Camino Real Community Services Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECI) offers services that help infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months of age) with disabilities or delays achieve their developmental milestones. By coaching families and caregivers how to embed learning strategies into everyday routines, we work as a team to maximize your child\u2019s greatest potential. We also assist parents to access the resources they need to function at their best while focusing on the specific needs of the child.<\/span>

Counties Served<\/span><\/h2>

Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Comal, Dimmit, Frio, Guadalupe, Kinney, La Salle, Live oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Wilson, Zavala<\/span><\/p>

Children referred to ECI will receive a developmental evaluation to determine eligibility for services according to the requirements of the State of Texas. The evaluation team, with the family\u2019s input, will determine the most suitable services for the child\u2019s needs. The services offered by Camino Real Community Services (ECI) Early Childhood Intervention Program are described below.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Specialized Skills Training<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

Our ECI Program offers Special Skills Training for infants and toddlers that demonstrate developmental delays. Services are provided by an Early Intervention Specialist, who has broad knowledge of development and can address delays in language development, thinking skills, social-emotional development, and gross or fine motor skills. We also help the family integrate skills taught by therapists across developmental domains.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\n

Occupational Therapy<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

A Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) may work with your child on enhancing their physical, sensory, or cognitive development. Depending on the age and needs of your child, the OT may work on gross or fine motor skills, feeding difficulties, or sensory integration techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\n

Physical Therapy<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

A Licensed Physical Therapist may work with your child to increase strength and muscle tone of the large muscles involved in standing, walking, climbing, running, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\n

Service Coordination \/ Case Management<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

A Service Coordinator is assigned to each family to coordinate the services of the IFSP (Individualized Family Services Plan). A service coordinator is a liaison between the family and service providers to coordinate the individuals plan of care, service delivery and progress towards goals. Other services include making arrangements for any additional services that may be needed and complete periodic review of the service plan. We will assist the family in preparing for any needed supports when the child turns three and transitions from the program.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

Nutrition<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

The services of a Registered Dietician may be requested if a child has an extremely limited dietary intake, has a history of poor growth, or is transitioning from mechanical feeding (such as a gastrointestinal tube) to normal feeding to ensure appropriate nutrition.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\n

Auditory and Visual Impairment<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

A child with hearing and\/or visual impairment may be eligible for services from a pool of certified educators who specialize in teaching children with auditory and visual impairments. These specialized teachers will guide families on how to enhance their child\u2019s hearing and\/or vision impairment to meet the child\u2019s developmental and educational goals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\n

Speech Therapy<\/span><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

A Speech-Language Pathologist addresses difficulties with producing the sounds expected of his or her language. We may also teach augmentative communication techniques if the child continues to have problems with language development. Feeding and oral-motor strengthening may be part of the developmental plan.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Respite<\/font><\/h4>\n\"\"\n

Respite services provides families a break from caring for their child and permits parents time to take part in activities independently of their child. A respite provider cares for their child during the time parents\/caregivers are away and can occur in the child\u2019s natural environment or outside the home. It is different than day care and traditional childcare and typically occurs on an irregular or short-term basis. Families designate their own respite provider. Respite services strengthens the entire family and improves family\u2019s connections.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
