Who We Are

Who is Camino Real Community services?

Camino Real Community Services was founded on September 1, 2000 as a community center under the provisions of Chapter 534 of the Texas Health & Safety Code Ann., as amended, and serves as the designated local authority for mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Atascosa, Dimmit, Frio, Karnes, La Salle, Maverick, McMullen, Wilson and Zavala Counties joined together through an interlocal agreement to transition services from a State Operated Community MHMR Center to a locally sponsored, non-profit Community Center. The agency is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Commissioners Court of each participant county. The Board of Trustees is responsible for hiring an Executive Director who is responsible for the daily operations of the Center and reports to the Board. The Center provides a wide array of mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities services across the service area that covers 10,000 square miles in suburban, rural and frontier communities. Although administrative offices are located at 19965 FM 3175N, Lytle, Texas, local offices, clinics, and program sites are established throughout the service area. In addition to services for people with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Center is host to an Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECI) that serves children ages 0-36 months. ECI serves Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Comal, Dimmit, Frio, Guadalupe, Kinney, La Salle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Wilson and Zavala Counties.
