Intellectual and Developmental Disability Provider Services

Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services offers a diverse system of care, interventions and supports that are individualized to enhance the quality of life for persons with Intellectual Disabilities. The services are developed and delivered around the individual’s needs, goals and dreams using the person directed planning approach, recognizing a lifestyle of inclusion, interdependence and respect. Camino Real offers programs designed to build supports based on an individual’s needs. Services are funded by General Revenue, Medicaid Waiver Programs, 3rd party insurance, and co-pays based on a sliding scale fee.
Camino Real is a provider of both the Home and Community Based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living program services (TxHmL). The following information describes the HCS and (TxHmL) programs and the services available to individuals enrolled within these programs through Camino Real:

Community Support services

Individualized activities that are consistent with the individual’s person-directed plan and provided in the individual’s home and at community locations. Supports include activities for the individual’s family that help preserve the family unit and prevent or limit out-of-home placement.

PASRR Program

Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) is a federally mandated program that requires all states to pre-screen all individuals seeking admission to a Medicaid certified nursing facility. Many people with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities can safely live in a community setting while receiving the support services they need. Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review is a process that helps ensure people who need these supports are only placed in a nursing facility when appropriate.

Authority Services

Camino Real Community Services is a Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA). Camino Real Community Services serves children and adults with Developmental Disabilities, Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Related Condition, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders such as Asperger’s and Autism.

MH/IDD WRAP Program

The MH/IDD Wrap program is primarily focused on providing a holistic approach to services for adolescents and adults with server and persistent mental illness, who are also diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. MH/IDD Wrap services are available to help enhance the structure to target the behavioral support needs for “at risk” and dually diagnosed individuals. The MH/IDD Wrap program includes psychiatric services, nursing services, skills training, crisis respite, counseling services, and intensive community liaison activities.

Crisis Services

We provide non-punitive, trauma-informed respite care to those individuals diagnosed with intellectual disability who are experiencing a mental health crisis. We also provide IDD diagnostic and referral services to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis who may qualify for IDD services but are not yet utilizing them.

Work Center Vocational Services

Camino Real has long been an advocate of vocational training and employment opportunities for people with varying abilities and needs. Through vocational training services Camino Real has helped individuals train, prepare and gain work skills that they can later apply to a job in the community.
